How We Calculated This

The Hidden Conversions Calculator is built on real data, not guesswork. Here is the methodology behind the numbers.

The base hidden conversion rates are derived from AiTRK's analysis of view-through conversions across 79 client accounts. Channels that rely heavily on impressions rather than clicks — like programmatic display and video/CTV — naturally produce more conversions that last-click analytics cannot attribute. Search campaigns, where most conversions follow a direct click, show a smaller gap.

Industry adjustments reflect differences in customer journey length and cross-device behavior patterns. B2B and healthcare buyers research across multiple devices and sessions before converting, creating more opportunities for attribution to break. E-commerce journeys tend to be shorter and more linear, so the hidden rate is slightly lower.

Analytics tool adjustments account for differences in tracking capability. GA4 captures click-based conversions well but has no native view-through attribution. Adobe Analytics offers slightly better cross-channel visibility. Basic or absent analytics compound the gap significantly.

The overall 22% hidden conversion rate for a balanced media mix aligns with AiTRK's published finding that 22% of conversions involve cross-channel assists invisible to last-click analytics — a benchmark documented in the State of Attribution 2026 report.

What Are Hidden Conversions?

Hidden conversions are real conversions that your current analytics doesn't attribute correctly. They happen every day across every channel — but because most analytics tools only credit the last click, these conversions go unrecognized or get misattributed.

Hidden conversions include:

  • View-through conversions from display and video ads. A user sees your display banner or watches your CTV ad, doesn't click, but later visits your site and converts. Last-click analytics credits the direct visit or a branded search — not the ad that actually influenced the decision.
  • Cross-device conversions. A customer researches your product on their phone during lunch, then completes the purchase on their laptop at home. Without cross-device identity resolution, these appear as two separate users — one who bounced and one who converted from nowhere.
  • Cross-channel assists. A LinkedIn ad drives awareness, a retargeting display ad reinforces the message, and the customer converts through a branded Google search. GA4 credits Google Search. The other two channels look like they produced nothing.
  • Impression-influenced direct visits. Repeated ad exposure builds brand familiarity, leading users to type your URL directly into their browser. Analytics shows a "direct" visit with no marketing attribution at all.

The common thread: these conversions are real revenue that your marketing generated, but your analytics can't connect the dots. The result is underreported ROAS, misallocated budgets, and channels that look like they're underperforming when they're actually driving growth.

AiTRK solves this by tracking view-through impressions, stitching cross-device identities, and attributing cross-channel assists — giving you the full picture of what your marketing actually produces.
